Manly Day
Maybe next time.
I just finished reading The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I liked it. Now I will be starting on the sequel, The Wedding.
Not so manly.
I watched the AMAs last night. I like award shows for the live performances. I wasn’t too big on any of them. I missed Taylor Swift, a personal favorite, and I was looking forward to that. I was told today that the woman that came out to sing with Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah was from Portsmouth.
This is from her website, kathleenbattle.com
In her youth, this native of Portsmouth, Ohio, the youngest of seven children, sang in church and school, and envisioned a future as a music teacher. Fortunately for audiences around the world, she found other ways to share her love of music-and through her natural gifts, innate intelligence, and hard work, her soaring voice has carried her to the heights of the classical music world. Indeed, throughout a remarkable career that has brought her to the stages of the world’s leading opera houses and major concert halls, critics have never tired of rhapsodizing over her limpid, unmistakable sound. In quite poetic terms, they have compared it to “the ethereal beauty of winter moonlight” (The Washington Post), “a paradoxical meeting of earth and sky” (Philadelphia Inquirer), and “cream from a miraculous, bottomless pitcher” (The New York Times).
It’s nice to know that someone from my hometown actually did something awesome with music. According to wikipedia, she has received at least five Grammy’s.
Go Scioto County.

Thanks and God bless"
I guess I have a wedding dress for sale. I had no clue. Maybe I should check my listings for stuff that I'm getting rid of just to be sure...
Wait a minute.
They said God bless.
It can't be a scam.
Nobody that believes in God would try to cheat me out of my wedding dress.
I better email them back to see if they'll still buy it
It's trick-or-treat night
For me, that means passing out candy to adults.
Yes, adults in football jerseys as costumes.
Many with an extra bag because "Bubby is sick"
Many with newborns in strollers that aren't even done breastfeeding (assuming), let alone up to chewing bubble gum or eating Runt's
one of these days i want to be able to turn people away but with the way people are about their Smartee's, I don't want to risk having a scene in my yard with a thousand kids running around...
maybe next year

I don't know what to think about this one...
I had a link here that went to an article about an 89 year old woman getting arrested because she wouldn't give some kids back their ball that kept going in her yard. She ended up suing. Not sure what the outcome was
On a side note...
Heroes is good.
Not as good as The Office.
I'm glad NBC exists.
Only three more days...

Bob Evans Farm
I woke up, got in the shower, and noticed huge deep scratches on my side. My brother "informed" me ("Gosh, fatty. Are those stretch marks?") that they look like stretch marks. But they be scratches. No idea what they are from. I thought that maybe I accidentally did it in my sleep but I had just clipped my nails and couldn't have done it. Maybe I angered the ghost that lives in our house.
True story.

"Beverly Hills Chihuahua" is the only light comedy in a market heavy on drama. Chuck Viane, Disney's head of distribution, said movie-goers may be turning to the perky pooch to help forget the market free-fall on Wall Street.
Weird. That's why "Eagle Eye" hasn't been playing at the local theater, because of Wall Street.
Another thing that sucks is music these days. Britney Spears just came out with a video where I guess she is naked for the whole thing. She'll be selling quite a few copies of her album now since she is "back", whatever that means.
Crazy amount of time in the tabloids for doing crazy things+ music video with crazy amount of naked time + no focus on actual music = Multi-Platinum Album
Maybe.

And I thought getting $3.25 per gallon today was good...
http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/steo/pub/special/summogas.html
"The U.S. retail price of regular gasoline reached an estimated average of $1.52 per gallon in March 2000, about 53 cents per gallon above the same month in 1999. February's average was also 23 cents per gallon above the average seen in January 2000. Increases of this magnitude are highly unusual. The last such episode was associated with the onset of the Gulf War (August 1990). The high nominal gasoline prices being experienced now follow from two important (and related) results of production cutbacks by major producing countries since 1998: dwindling world petroleum inventories and sharply higher crude oil prices. Crude oil prices began a steep upturn on world markets in March of 1999 and continued to climb through the winter just ended. Since then, the cost paid by U.S. refiners for crude oil rose almost $15 per barrel (35 cents per gallon). Meanwhile, U.S. inventories of crude oil and finished products fell sharply. As of April 1, crude oil and motor gasoline inventories were at very low levels in the context of what is considered "normal" for this time of year. Expected demand growth this year, while small by historical standards, is expected to keep stock levels lean, even with anticipated increases in refinery output.
Retail gasoline prices (regular grade) this summer are expected to average $1.46 per gallon, 25 percent higher than last summer’s average of $1.17 per gallon. That projection also exceeds the previous (current-dollar) record summer average of $1.35 recorded in 1981. The peak monthly average price this summer (April) is expected to be $1.52 per gallon, the same as seen in March. Prices are then expected to decline to $1.39 by the end of summer, given the implications of the recently concluded agreement by OPEC members to increase production."
Dang is the word you are looking for.
Dang.

This past weekend...
Friday = Football. BFFs. Halo. The Office. This girl. Metallica.
All of these made the night great. Not necessarily in that order.
Saturday = Football. BFFs. Same girl. Food.
Sunday = Football. Family. Same girl. Food. Swimming. Birthday cake. Birthday presents.
The only things that could have made the weekend any better would be USC not destroying Ohio State and the Bengals not losing...again.

Question and Birthday Stuff
I've heard that Abercrombie has their horrible colognes coming from the air vents. Hot Topic just has that smell.
I ask this because I walked by someone at work the other day and their "scent" reminded me of the store. He had on a t shirt and mesh shorts, not the Hot Topic uniform.

that isn't me by the way. I was out of my "let's try to be dark and scare people" stage by my seventh grade year. Dang. 1997 was a good while ago.
Birthday
So my birthday is Friday. Not so exciting. It used to be just another year that has gone by where I wish I had done more. Not this time.
Things are awesome though.
I have a rad job at the hospital, a great best friend, a pretty amazing girl that hangs out with me, music opportunities, and a God that loves me for some reason.
I've tried for awhile to get negative things out of my life. Since I have done that, my overall outlook has improved so much. God has a plan for me and I'm doing what I can to follow that. I don't feel like a loser or a waste anymore.
so take that, negativity...

Olympics...
With all of the controversy that is around the China gymnasts, i thought this was a little odd.
"3) China won more golds in Beijing (51) than they did total medals in Atlanta (50)."
So either China got awesome in the past 12 years or something else is going on...
Hrmm...

Update?
Camp season is over. Good times were had this summer. You can't really beat getting paid (sometimes) to play music, tell kids about God and just hang out all day.
Dad was in for awhile but is now back in Kuwait.
Godspeed, Mike.
Alumni game is Sunday. I won't give a prediction about the game since none of mine seem to work out for me. I'll post the results after the game.
I'm just working and saving right now. Getting out of debt too.
The Olympics...
I know many of you have heard about the scandal that says China is using under aged girls to compete in the gymnastics part. I really liked what one American said about the whole thing. I can't find the quote but it basically said that had the US originally won that medal, we wouldn't be hearing about it. Good point.
God is good. I cannot say that enough. I'm not saying that I have the best life. I am saying that I rather enjoy the blessings for God.
Great friends, loving family, amazing opportunities, and another chance.
We'll see how things go.
Take care and root for the Bengals this year.
High school football starts tonight.
and Riddle Buddy (II) likes to make noise at around 5am.
I like this song.

Time to lose some more weight...

Back in January, I lost about 21 lbs in only a couple weeks. Since then, I have gained about ten back. I've decided that I want to lose another 20ish. Right now I'm at about 205, somewhere around that. This is how I looked during the summer of 2004 with my BFF Michael

And here is how I looked a few weeks ago with my Uncle Mark. I'm not happy about that so I'm going to lose some weight. I'll let you know how it goes.
Peace.

The Dark Knight...
I don't even want to watch another one until the next one comes out.
It may be number two on my favorite movies ever list.
I'm not really going to talk about it.
Please go see it for yourself.
I'm going to see it again tonight.
Peace.

Scam? I think so.
Hi,Sounds Good
Thanks for the swift reply,Well can i know the actual amount for this item and also would love to see some close picture of your item? Also what the condition of this item?
Are you really serious and ready to sell this item or just freaking me so later on am gonna get disappointed, well if not so and i don't wanna write to you very much, but all i want you to know my only means on payment for this item and that is via Alertpay(My Way To Pay).I have been using many means of payment for client and seller but at the end of the day i got burnt and have lost too much money, until i was finally introduced to Alertpay,so i would not guarantee another means of payment than this, cause i believe it well secure, fast, simple and also safe for us both you get your money and i get the item, also Alertpay do not only has security but tight one with Fbi support.
So my dear seller,i hereby implore you to reason with me and log on to www.alertpay.com then sign up an account you will also have the advantage to read much about them,so when you sign up get back to me with your id,name,so the payment can be made and you get your money in cash. Please don't be confuse but be convince that Alertpay (My Way To Pay) is good for us both...Thanks
Alexsin.
Regards.
To me, this sounds like an infomercial. Your opinions?

Dad is somewhere over the atlantic right now...
We will be picking him up at about 10am so I need to be sleeping right now.
On a music note (har har), i found this quote which i thought was wow...you know what i mean.
"...In the music biz it's all about who you know. Don't let that discourage you because if you know the Creator of the universe; He has all the connections and hook-ups. Stay faithful in the little things and He'll trust you with more. Wait on the Lord and focus on getting as close to Jesus as you can. The closer you are to Him the easier it will be to know where He is directing you. When you let Him lift you up, then it'll last. Still practice your butt off and be the best you can be at your craft."
-Leif Skartland
I've been way too worried about making contacts in Nashville since I've been told that it's a "who you know" business. I never looked at it that way. God is the ultimate contact. He won't just direct you to the place where you can fill-in or even become a member. He will direct you where you are supposed to be according to Him.
Wow.
On a sad note, I already broke my "no drinking pop" thing that i was doing. The way i see it, the family and I will be visiting a bunch of people and most likely going out to eat. Maybe I'll start back up again once his visit is over.
We'll see...

Not being on the road is sometimes nice...
This past week has been so awesome, yet so exhausting. I'm hanging out with my Uncle Mark and his wife. I got to meet their adorable three year old little girl. She and I played guitar together and she showed me some pretty rad moves to do on stage next time I'm playing.
I'll be home tomorrow sometime. I miss my friends though.
Thanks for reading, Michael.

Hancock / Get Smart

It's summer so that means that Will Smith was going to be in a movie that makes over 100 million dollars. This one looks like it is on the way to being in that category. I've always been a fan of his films and this is another that I have liked. Go watch this if you enjoy watching Will Smith movies that make tons of cash.

Oh, how I love Steve Carrell.
I tried to watch this movie without expecting the same kind of comedy that I always get from The Office. Even with doing that, It was still amazing. Dwayne Johnson is hilarious and I am a new fan of Anne Hathaway. I don't think I have ever seen a movie with her in it but I MAY have to look into that.
That's it for now.
I'm at camp right now having a late night movie with the rest of the staff.
These are good times.

The Happening...strikes back and other movies I recently watched
On to the reviews...

The Happening is a crazy movie. As most of you who have seen the trailer know, something happens and a bunch of people die. You find out why as the movie goes on.
If you are creeped out or uncomfortable with death and/or suicide being portrayed in a movie, this is NOT the movie for you.
It had some pretty funny lines though.
"Are you eyein' my lemon drink?"
"Think scientific, douche bag..."
It's crazy.
Nothing after the credits.
Something that I really don't understand about kids these days is why they pay $7.50 (movie ticket price here) and they don't even watch the movie. Talking, texting, making out, taking pictures and even phone calls keep them from enjoying the movie that they just wasted money on.
During the happening, a kid behind me answered his phone. this is the discussion i heard.
Rude Kid: "Hello? I'm at the movies...AT THE MOVIES...Yeah...The Happening...THE HAPPENING...Yeah...With (then he names every person in his group)...we're in the top row...TOP ROW...yeah, come on in...okay...okay...yeah...okay...bye"
Then the girl comes in and joins in their conversations for a few minutes before heading out to visit a different movie.
I just don't get it
WALL-E

This was a great movie. I agree that it is an "instant classic". Wall-e is one of those characters you can't help but to fall for.
I say that you should go and see this right now.
Quit reading and go right now.
I'm not sure if there is anything after the credits. I saw it at a drive-in and they cut it off halfway through the credits
OH!
I forgot.
It's a pixar movie so it has one of the bonus shorts at the beginning, which i also really enjoyed
Unbreakable

Another crazy movie.
I liked it.
Gotta love movies with twists
i think that's it although i did see the new hulk movie again as the 2nd feature after Wall-e.
I'm heading out for camp again on sunday
I don't think i'll be posting again until i get back.
take care and much love

recent happenings...
- i had an umbrella thrown (missed) at me last night while i was riding a bike. it was from a couple guys in a truck. the joke is on them. it is raining right now and their umbrella is on the side of the road.
- ken griffey jr. hit his 600th homerun. i like him. not only does he play for the reds and hits home runs, he hasn't been mixed up in any steroid scandal
- i got to play soccer today for the first time since last august. good times
- i went to a meeting for work. we meet at a local coffee shop. my "boss" covers the tab, yet i always get water.
- i have another meeting in the morning. maybe i'll be daring and get water with lemon...
- my brother is at the beach. there have been reports of sharks in knee-deep waters. that is pretty scary.
- Dallas hates storms and is freaking out right now. he knocked on my door and crashed by my bed and just shook. poor guy...

So my team made it to the finals. I'm not too great with predicting winners when it comes to sports but i'll go ahead and say I believe the Lakers will win.

My cousin, Quint, is a big Cavs fan.
A few months ago, I told him that the Lakers were going to win the championship this year. He picked his favorites.
Let's see who will be the winner...
p.s. I picked the Lakers way back then because I read online that they did the best with their trades or with the draft...something like that.

Change
Defined on Dictionary.com as "1.to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone: to change one's name; to change one's opinion; to change the course of history."
Change can be a good thing.
It can be a horrible thing.
You could desperately be needing it.
God controls all. Things may be going not so great or really awesome and He has the power and plan to change it all.
I had my life planned out. I was going to be a married man. I was going to move away from my best friends and family again. I was going to get a dog. God had other plans.
I admit that it sucked for a really long time.
I was angry with the One that gave me breath because He changed my life all around
the thing is that He knows what my life should be and that i should only follow His directions to get there
I'm sure that I am not the only one that has experienced change
Death of a loved one, a promotion, sickness, winning the lottery, losing a leg, buying a new home, divorce, marriage, birth of a child, accepting the love that God has and gives constantly...
All things happen for a reason.
Let God do His job and just follow Him
peace.

Well, my prediction was wrong...
Super Bowl XLII Prediction...
I am going with what Ray Buchanan has said.
We both want to see a good game like the last time these two teams met. 28-24 New England was his prediction. I'll have to go with New England as well in a close game.
